"Innovative"

On this intricate urban terrace site, measuring a slender 3.6 meters in width, we encountered the challenge of navigating significant heritage overlays, demanding a thoughtful approach to resolution. The addition of two new levels, dedicated to bedroom and bathroom spaces, was carefully orchestrated to maintain harmony with the existing red brick terrace. Our design intentionally delineated between the old and the new, employing a strikingly glazed and recessed bridge link.

In crafting the exterior aesthetic, we opted for a distinctive metal scale cladding,a contemporary homage to the surrounding tessellated roofing patterns, while still respecting the heritage context. This choice not only imbued the structure with a modern flair but also ensured the maximization of city views and the expansion of floor areas, catering to the evolving needs of an urban family.

Zayar’s involvement in this project began at its inception, during the design phase, where he contributed to the preparation of town planning drawings, detailed designs, and construction documentation under the guidance of AOA’s Director. Throughout, his focus remained on meticulous attention to detail, particularly evident in the refinement of working drawing sections and 3D modeling rendering.
